What to Bring to Your First Appointment
For your first appointment, there are several things you can bring with you to make your visit as simple and convenient as possible, including:
- Your dental insurance card (if applicable)
- Any recent dental x-rays
- Information about your medical history, including medications A form of identification, such as your driver’s license or military ID
- Bring a list of questions you want to ask our staff during your appointment as well.
The goal of your first dental appointment is to get to know the staff and meet your dentist. During this visit, you will likely meet with your dentist to discuss your specific oral health goals and any concerns you may have.
What to expect during your visit:
Discuss Your History
We may ask you about your dental history, so you should be prepared to discuss past dental work as well as any changes you have noticed in your smile.
Comprehensive Oral Health Exam
We will check the health of your teeth and gums and examine any existing restorations. We will likely also examine your jaw and the way your teeth fit together. The oral exam allows us to obtain a complete picture of the health of your smile. If you have not had x-rays taken within the past six months, you will likely have some taken during this appointment as well.
Treatment Plan
After your initial evaluation, we can discuss your treatment options with you, so that you can make an educated decision about how to proceed.
Dental Cleaning
Depending on your needs, you may also have a professional cleaning from a dental hygienist during this appointment. In some cases, we may recommend waiting until your next appointment.
